Home gym and exercise equipment installation

Secure mounting that is suitable for the structure is especially important when installing gymnastic rings and wall bars. Gymnastic rings, wall bars and pull-up bars are subjected to significantly greater and more dynamic loads than ordinary wall-mounted household items, so the wall or ceiling structure should be assessed before drilling.

Jelpperi has experience installing a variety of gymnastic and fitness products. During the same visit, wall bars can be assembled, gymnastic ring straps installed and other fitness equipment in the same exercise area mounted when suitable.

Gymnastic rings and wall bars can be combined into a practical home exercise area.

What types of gymnastic and fitness equipment can be installed?

  • Wooden and plastic gymnastic rings
  • Ceiling brackets for gymnastic rings
  • Wooden and metal wall bars
  • Assembly and wall mounting of wall bars
  • Wall- or ceiling-mounted pull-up bars
  • Doorway pull-up bars depending on the product design
  • Trapezes and other ceiling-hung gymnastic equipment
  • Small home gym and exercise equipment

The suitability of the product and mounting location is always checked before installation. Equipment that creates dynamic loads on the ceiling or wall requires a structure that is suitable for that type of use.

The mounting location and structure are checked before installation

The structure of the building is especially important when mounting gymnastic rings to a ceiling or wall bars to a wall. The mounting method is selected according to the product, the manufacturer's instructions, mounting points and the structure of the installation location. In older buildings, wall and ceiling structures can differ significantly from modern construction.

  • Concrete ceiling: often a suitable mounting surface for gymnastic rings and other ceiling-mounted equipment
  • Hollow-core concrete slab: the exact mounting location and suitable fixing method must be assessed before installation
  • Concrete wall: generally suitable for secure installation of wall bars and pull-up bars
  • Lightweight wall structures: the load-bearing capacity and possible wall studs must be identified before installation
  • Older buildings: the actual wall or ceiling structure is assessed case by case

When should you hire an installer for gymnastic equipment?

  • You are unsure about the ceiling or wall structure
  • The gymnastic rings need to be mounted to a concrete ceiling or hollow-core slab
  • The wall bars are large, heavy or need to be assembled before mounting
  • The equipment is subjected to movement and dynamic loading during use
  • You are unsure about the correct mounting points or fixings
  • The building is old and the construction method is unknown
  • Electrical wiring or pipes may be located close to the mounting area
  • You want the installation to be straight, secure and in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions

What to consider when installing gymnastic rings and wall bars

Mounting gymnastic rings and wall bars differs from many ordinary home installation jobs. The load on the mounting points is not limited to the weight of the product or user, because movement can significantly increase the forces acting on the fixings. For this reason, the structure of the mounting location, the manufacturer's installation instructions and the planned mounting points are assessed before installation.

Gymnastic rings installation on a ceiling

The ceiling must be suitable for load-bearing mounting when gymnastic rings are installed. A concrete ceiling is a common mounting surface, but even with concrete structures it is important to identify the type of ceiling and suitable mounting location before drilling. The distance between the rings and their position are planned according to the product instructions and the available space so that there is sufficient room around the rings for exercise.

Wall bars installation

Wall bars are secured to the wall at several mounting points and must remain firmly in place during use. A concrete wall is generally a good mounting surface, while other wall structures may require a more detailed assessment of their load-bearing capacity. The alignment, mounting height and position of the wall bars are checked before final fixing.

Identifying the ceiling and wall structure

The age of the building can affect the type of structures behind wall and ceiling surfaces. In older apartment buildings in particular, the actual load-bearing structure behind plaster or board surfaces may not be obvious from the surface alone. The suitability of the mounting location and possible routes of electrical wiring or pipes should be considered before drilling.

Ceiling brackets for gymnastic rings

Gymnastic rings can be suspended from ceiling brackets designed specifically for this purpose. The brackets must be suitable for the equipment and expected loads, and they should be installed according to the manufacturer's instructions. Dedicated ring brackets provide separate, secure attachment points for the ring straps.

Pull-up bar installation

Depending on the model, a pull-up bar can be mounted on a wall, ceiling or doorway. For wall- and ceiling-mounted models, the structural strength and manufacturer-specified mounting points are particularly important. There should also be enough free space around the bar for safe use.

Trapeze and other ceiling-hung equipment installation

A trapeze, rope or other ceiling-hung fitness or gymnastic product follows the same basic principles as gymnastic rings. The mounting surface must be suitable for the loads created by the equipment and user, and the manufacturer's installation and safety instructions should be followed.

Installation in older buildings

In older buildings, the visible wall or ceiling surface may not reveal the type of load-bearing structure underneath. Buildings from the early 1900s may require more careful assessment before gymnastic rings, wall bars or pull-up bars can be installed. If you know the age of the building or the wall and ceiling materials, include that information when requesting a price estimate.

Assembly and finishing the installation

Many wall bars and other fitness products are delivered in parts and need to be assembled before being mounted. For gymnastic rings, the installation may include mounting the ceiling brackets, attaching the straps and adjusting the rings for use. After installation, the fixings and stability of the product are checked before use.

Gymnastic rings and wall bars installation pricing

The price depends on the type of product, number of mounting points, wall or ceiling structure, possible assembly work and mounting method. Other small installation and mounting jobs can also be completed during the same visit.

The small job visit is suitable for many standard gymnastic ring, wall bar, pull-up bar and other home fitness equipment installations. The small job visit includes up to one hour of work at the location.

You will always receive a price estimate in advance by message.

  • Small job visit: from €179, including travel within the Helsinki metropolitan area and up to 1 hour of work.
  • Additional time: €35 / each starting 15 minutes.
  • Materials: according to use, estimated in advance

Frequently asked questions about gymnastic rings and wall bars installation

Where can gymnastic rings be installed?

The mounting location must be structurally suitable for the load. The ceiling structure, mounting points and the manufacturer's installation instructions are assessed before installation.

Can wall bars be installed on a concrete wall?

Yes. A concrete wall is generally well suited for wall bars when the product's mounting points and the wall structure allow a secure installation.

Can gymnastic rings be installed on the ceiling of an older building?

It depends on the actual ceiling structure. In older buildings, the structure should be identified carefully before drilling and installing the equipment.

Does Jelpperi also install pull-up bars and trapezes?

Yes. In addition to gymnastic rings and wall bars, pull-up bars, trapezes and other home fitness equipment can be installed when the structure is suitable for secure mounting.

Can wall bars and gymnastic rings be installed during the same visit?

Yes. Wall bars and gymnastic rings can often be installed during the same visit if the wall and ceiling structures are suitable for mounting the products.
